Who is Sonos?
Originally founded in 2002, Sonos has quickly become one of the best known, if not the best known multi-zone audio system in the world. Back in 2002, their innovative technology allowed the residential market to stream their music sources over Wi-Fi. Revolutionary apps like Pandora Radio turned into the new Napster!
The company has grown quite a bit in almost 20 years of its existence. Today they offer multiple speakers, soundbars, and integration with partners like Control 4 and Savant.
Why would I want a Sonos Alternative?
There is always something that the leader of the industry has missed. Although Sonos has the largest market share, there are a lot of innovative technologies looking to compete with the audio giant. A product is typically sourced elsewhere due to cost, innovations, or value.
Or maybe it’s because of the availability of the product. In October of 2020, a massive fire broke out at AKM burning the building to the ground in Japan. The fire at the AKM plant took over 80 hours to control, crippling the audio industries largest part manufacturer. Click here to read more about the AKM fire…
Who are the Sonos Alternative
Most of the major audio brands like VSSL, Bose (now a discontinued project), LG, Sony, and Denon (HEOS) have adopted their own line of whole-home audio systems. VSSL is one of the only audio amplifiers that have all of their zones built into just one chassis. VSSL has a competitive price that offers more features than most of the other competitors to Sonos.
